Sermorelin

Supporting Recovery, Body Composition, and Hormonal Balance

Why We’re Providing You This Information

At Radiant You, we believe you deserve to understand the complete scientific evidence behind every recommended intervention so you can make the best decision for your health.

This overview highlights key research, explains both benefits and risks in clear terms, and helps you understand how we think about treatment, so you can make informed decisions with
confidence.

What Is Sermorelin?

Sermorelin is a synthetic version of a natural brain hormone called growth hormone–releasing hormone (GHRH).
It works by signaling your pituitary gland to release growth hormone, which then increases levels of IGF-1 — a hormone involved in:
  • Muscle maintenance
  • Fat metabolism
  • Tissue repair
  • Skin health
  • Recovery
Unlike direct growth hormone therapy, sermorelin stimulates your body to produce hormone in a more natural, pulsatile pattern.

Why Consider Sermorelin?

As we age, growth hormone and IGF-1 levels gradually decline.
Some patients explore sermorelin as part of a broader plan to support:
  • Recovery from training
  • Body composition
  • General resilience and well-being
Rather than creating an artificial effect, it helps your skin rebuild itself over time.

What the Research Shows

Hormonal Effects (Well Established)

Clinical studies consistently show that sermorelin:
  • Increases growth hormone secretion
  • Enhances natural nighttime hormone pulses
  • Raises IGF-1 levels
These changes are often measurable within a few weeks.
Body Composition
In studies of older adults:
  • Lean body mass increased by approximately 2–4 pounds
  • Some reduction in abdominal fat was observed
  • Skin thickness improved in certain studies
Results tend to be gradual and vary between individuals.

Performance and Function

Research has not consistently shown:
  • Reliable increases in strength
  • Significant improvements in endurance
  • Major changes in physical performance
Important distinction:
Changes in body composition do not always translate into noticeable performance improvements.
Cognition and Well-Being
Some small studies suggest:
  • Modest improvements in certain cognitive measures
  • Improved sense of well-being
  • Possible improvement in libido (more consistent in men than women)
Of note, these findings are based on small, short-term studies and are not consistent across all research. But they are honorable mentions.

Safety Profile

Sermorelin is generally well tolerated.
Possible side effects include:
  • Facial flushing
  • Injection site irritation
  • Headache
Less commonly:
  • Temporary changes in lipid levels
  • Skin reactions

Cancer Considerations (What We Know and What We Don’t)

Growth hormone and IGF-1 play a role in cell growth and repair. Because of this, there has been longstanding interest in whether increasing these hormones could influence cancer risk.

At this time:

  • There is no clear evidence that sermorelin causes cancer in healthy individuals
  • However, higher IGF-1 levels have been associated in some studies with increased risk of certain cancers, though this relationship is not fully understood

For this reason, we approach therapy thoughtfully:

  • We avoid use in patients with active cancer
  • We use conservative dosing to maintain physiologic (not excessive) levels
  • We monitor response over time

Sermorelin is best viewed as a therapy that supports normal physiology — not one that pushes the body beyond its natural range.

How This Fits Into Your Skin Health

Sermorelin is best viewed as a supportive tool, not a primary driver of results.

It tends to be most effective when combined with:

  • Resistance training
  • Adequate protein intake
  • Quality sleep
  • Metabolic and hormonal health

And if those areas aren’t fully where you want them to be, that’s exactly where we can help — through a more comprehensive, personalized approach to your health at Radiant You.

Our Approach at Radiant You

We offer sermorelin selectively and transparently to patients who we think would benefit.

We do not present it as:

  • A shortcut to muscle gain
  • A performance enhancer
  • A replacement for foundational health habits

Instead, we view it as:

One piece of a broader strategy to support how your body functions over time.
